It’s summertime and when I think of summer, it’s somewhere near the water. Whether it’s an ocean or a lake or a pool, the experience of being outside and having fun is what warm weather and time off is all about. I have only water-skied once in my life. It was a blast. I discovered Colsac Skiers and watching their video brought back those special memories of that teenage fun.
Colsac Skiers started out as a group of guys wanting to share their passion for waterskiing with people with disabilities. At the beginning, we really didn’t think much beyond the boats and adaptive equipment. What we have learned over the last few years is beyond anything we imagined. I really didn’t know much about Autism or MS or what it’s like to live without the abilities that so many of us take for granted. Watching our young volunteers interact with people who have mobility or cognitive issues without prejudice, and taking time out of their summer vacations to help someone have one of the most memorable days of their summer makes me proud. When I see our participants just hanging out, enjoying the day, sun and lake, talking about their ski run and how they’re going to try and improve on their next run, maybe try a new trick, it helps me see their abilities, not disabilities.
They never charge anyone with a disability to go water skiing. It’s a 100% volunteer organization. It’s for children and adults with disabilities including Wounded Warriors. You can get your whole group out on the lake to learn and have fun skiing together.
Colsac Skiers Inc. is a water ski school based on Lake Wisconsin for children and adults with disabilities, including our Wounded Warriors.
We are USA Water Ski Certified Instructors and Divers, and Red Cross Certified Lifeguards for side skiers. We provide therapeutic recreation that reduces depression and anxiety while improving well being and quality of life – all in a safe environment. We want to get your whole group out to learn and have fun skiing together.
We host several events a year on the many lakes in the Madison area and our partnerships with ski teams around Wisconsin also offer many opportunities for other exciting events around the state. If you’d prefer something more specific to your group, we can create a custom event tailored to your needs. Sign up for one of our scheduled events or contact us if you’d like us to create an event just for you.

So, why Colsac? We believe everyone should experience the joy and freedom of being out on the water. At our events, participants are able to fully enjoy this experience along side their family and friends, eliminating feelings of isolation. And in addition to the exhilaration of water skiing, spending time on the water can also be highly therapeutic, reducing anxiety and depression.
Your generous donation, sponsorship or gift of equipment makes these experiences possible. Thank you for your help!
