I did plays in high school. (I had the lead in two shows and was voted Most Dramatic in High School.) I did summer stock and LOVED it. I really connected with the people involved and wished that I did more of it. Maybe that’s why I married an actor.
When I was doing my detective research, I fell in love with this theatre company. Their site and their performers made me so happy that I cried with tears of joy when they spoke of the bravery and courage of their students. The work that Katie and Annie and their team are doing touched me so deeply. I wish that I could find these theatre companies in every state across our nation. I read every page of this website. Look at what they say:
Our practices are always a good time! We involve singing, dancing, and acting into every session held. No matter the age, ability, or verbal skills, we like to get our students moving, exploring, and learning. Teaching them critical theatre knowledge like projecting, cheating, and stage directions, we value our curriculum as a professional grade theatre workshop. But under this learning, we sneak in life skills reinforced with each new theatre game: eye contact, memory improvement, taking turns, speaking clearly, etc. Theatre is an excellent medium to learn/review social skills with dignity. Plus, it’s fun! Theatre is for everybody!
I can’t wait to go to Michigan.
Our theatre program is specifically designed for everyone – be that students with special needs or seniors looking for a fun, new adventure. Whether you want a one day workshop or weekly classes, we bring the fun to you! Explore with us the three pillars of theatre (singing, acting, and dancing), theatre games/activities, and for our younger students life skills (eye contact, manners, etc). We bring all our own props, sound equipment, and ideas. You provide the space and we’ll provide the fun learning opportunities: Let’s go on with the show!
Our goal is to efficiently and respectfully teach actors-to-be of all abilities about the creative process of theatre. The founders believe musical theatre can be applied to educate all ages of theatre students about different aspects of themselves and with our younger students; real world skills. Each class is led by trained theatre professionals and culminates in a live performance for family and friends. The process of learning about the theatre and rehearsing a live show promotes teamwork, cooperation, belonging, work ethic, memory, leadership, social skills and maybe most importantly; it’s fun!
